Jeffrey "OneShot" Wong Untitled Chapter 1 "Okay, Ukyo, your job is very easy, it's the exact same thing as what you've done before except you're going to get paid a whole lot more for doing a whole lot less" Ukyo didn't smile. She had heard that no one had worked for her new boss more than one month without quitting. That meant he must be a hard case. She had been perfectly happy working in one of this companies subsidaries as a regular secretary. "There's one thing though..." Mina said. She was a middle aged girl with brown hair "It's about your new boss" Ukyo steeled herself for the horrible things she was going to hear, about how hard it would be to work for him. "What?" "Just don't fall in love with him" Mina replied with a smirk. When Ukyo gave her a confused look, she continued "Don't worry, you'll see" At that moment, the intercom on Mina's desk buzzed. "Yes, Ranma?" "Did the new personal secretary arrive yet?" his voice echoed from the intercom "If not, can I steal you from Ko again for a moment? I need someone to dictate but I have trouble reading my own handwriting" Mina gave a curt laugh before replying, "Yes, she's here. But I'd like to show her around for a moment. She hasn's had the chance to settle in yet" "Don't worry, I can handle it" Ukyo said "I'll get settled in afterwards" Mina spoke into the intercom, "Nevermind, she's on her way in" Ukyo nervously picked up a notepad from what will be her desk, and headed for the door with 'President' written in gold on it. But she didn't get far before Mina said something. "I suggest you not let him get to you" Ukyo's heartrated sped. Was this man she was going to work for that bad? Unfortunately, she couldn't do anything about it. She needed the job. Chapter 2 Ukyo's heart skipped a beat when she caught sight of Ranma. She didn't expect to see someone so young, and so handsome. He looked like he was in his mid twenties. He was dressed in a business suit that even made him look more handsome. He was standing in front of desk near his own. There was a coffee maker on it and he was pouring grounded coffee into the compartment where one was supposed to put the water. Ranma sighed, "How come I have the funny feeling I'm not doing this correctly?" Ukyo tried the best not to luagh. Is this the same man that she was so scared of? "Don't laugh, you" Ranma said, mocked anger "I never used one of these before. My other secretary never showed me how to do it before she left" Ukyo became quiet. Ranma gestured to the plush chair in front of his desk "Please, sit down" She did as she was told. "Yes, sir" She readied herself to write down whatever he spoke. "Please, call me Ranma" he said warmly. "Yes, R-Ranma" "Your name's Ukyo, right?" "Yes" Ranma chuckled "All right, now we're getting somewhere" The laugh seemed to ease the tension in the room considerably. Ukyo found herself staring at Ranma more than she realized. She had been watching how carefree he looked when he laughed. For a man that makes million dallar decisions a dozen time before lunchtime, he sure looked unaffected by the stress of working. Ranma waved his hands "Yoo hoo, you there?" Ukyo snapped out of her staring. The realizationg that she had been staring made her blush horribly. "Well, are we ready to begin?" he said, leaning against his chair. The dictation went smoothly. Mina wasn't busy when Ukyo walked out of Ranma's office an hour and a half later. The middle-aged woman gave Ukyo a warm smile "How did it go?" "Um...I think it went okay" "Then way are you blushing?" Mina smirked "Well, it's none of my business. Anyway, if you're not busy, I'll take you out to lunch, to show you around" Ukyo shook her head "No, thank you. I'd like to stay and get this done first. Besides, I was kind of hoping to wait for Keiisa to show me around. "Oh, yeah, she was the one who got you the job. Well, I'm not too sure when she'll have that little...management problem fixed, but you're most likely looking to be waiting for quite some time" Mina said with a shrug of her shoulders. "I'll stay" Ukyo replied "Besides, I'd like to get used to...working again. I mean, I've been unemployed for so long that I feel I forgot how to type" Minak smiled "Okay, but in case you want to meet everyone, come on down to 'Mackie-chan's' after work. Everyone usually meets there every Friday for a little dinner party-type meal" Ukyo nodded and watched as Mina left. Once she was alone, Ukyo pressed a hand to her cheeks. Was she really blushing? Chapter 3 Ukyo's heart raced when she caught sight of Ranma emerging from his office. "Oh, I thought you and everybody else went to lunch" Ranma said. He walked around her desk up and looked over her shoulder at the computer screen "Eh? You're already working on the dictation I made?" "Yes" she said. Somehow, she was keenly aware of Ranma's presence as he stood behind her. She was grateful her back was to him for she was blushing again. To Ukyo's relief, he walked away toward the coffee maker near her desk and pored himself a cup of coffee. He then turned toward her and said with a smile, "You want one?" Ukyo was surprised that he even bothered to ask. It was ironic that Ranma, the president of this company, was asking her, his secretary, if she wanted coffee. Even so, she didn't want her boss to get her coffee, even though she did want some. Ranma regarded her for a moment before he turned back around and pour another cup of coffee. He then brought it to Ukyo and placed it on her desk "Here," he said with a grin "I have the funny feeling that you don't want it only because you don't want me getting it for you" Ukyo was very silent. Was she that transparent? "You hungry?" Ukyo's stomach grumbled before she had a chance to speak. Ranma cast her a wickedly handsome smile before walked over to a desk next to hers and picked up the phone and punched in a few numbers. After a moment, he spoked "Ah yes, I'd like to have a delivery. Yes. Ranma. Heh, what do you think, the same building you guys have been delivering to or the pass five years. Hold on," He placed his hand over the receiver "What would you like on your pizza?" "Um...er....I don't know...pepperoni" "Pepperoni it is," he said before speaking back into the receiver "One pepperoni pie" He hung the phone up and looked at Ukyo "So, how do you like working here?" Ukyo and Ranma indulged in some casual chit chat for a short while before their conversation was interrupted when the delievery boy entered the work area. "Hey, Kuzo," he said walking on over to the young boy. He reached into his pocket and took out a five hundren yen bill "You know how it goes. Keep the change. Heh, at the rate this is going, you won't be needing to work when you finally graduate high school" "Thank you, Ranma" the young boy said, bowing before leaving. Ranma carried the pizza box to Ukyo's desk and opened it up. The delicious frgance of the pizza wafted up to Ukyo's nostrils. A moment of panic took hold of Ukyo as she looked up at Ranma. What was she going to do? Should she finish writing Ranma's dictation first or eat? Ranma took a slice and bit into it "Forget about the dictation. It could wait. You're hunger, on the other hand, can not. Enjoy. Half of it's yours" After much hesitation, Ukyo picked up a slice and bit into it. It tasted delicious. The two of them indulged in some more small talk. Chapter 4 "You can stay in the guest room for as long as you'd like" Keiisa said. Keiisa had been Ukyo's friend since childhood. "Thanks," Ukyo said wearily, flopping down on the couch. "I'm sorry I was back in time to take you to lunch, but I had a real problem on my hands, that's all" Keiisa said, sitting down next to Ukyo. She was two years older than Ukyo, and had blond hair. Although she was slightly overweight, she carried her weight well "So, how did your day go?" "Why didn't you tell me about, Mr Saotome....I mean Ranma?" Keiisa gave curious look before she realized what Ukyo meant. She laughed before she said, "Now that you've met Ranma, what do you think of him?" Ukyo blushed. Keiisa noticed the blush and her visage became serious "Ukyo, friend, I seriously hope you're not developing feeling aside from that of an employee and employer" "I-I am n-not" Ukyo tried to lie. She even tried to lie to herself. God, just the thought of Ranma sent her heart racing. She had never met a man like him before. "Perhaps I should have told you about him, but I guess it was my wanting to see the expression on your face that kept me from it." Keiisa said "Anyway, you're my friend, and I don't want you to get hurt, but you mustn't....fall for Ranma" "I-I am n-not falling for him. W-we just met" Ukyo tried to say. But curiosity go the better of her and she had to ask "Why? Why shouldn't I fall for him? N-not that I am, mind you" "Yeah, right," her friend continued "You want to know why? Okay. I assume he's very nice to you in the office, right? Well, don't misinterpret that kindness as him developing feeling for you in return. He's always like that. Unfortunately, it'll never go farther than that.
