The words that start with 'X' suck.
I'm not singling out all words that start with 'X', just the words that start with 'X' that shouldn't be.
I'm sick of seeing that word 'xtreme'. I see that word all over the place. It's on food, duct tape (I shit you not), clothes, comic books, movies, webpages, and generally everything. What the fuck's with that word popping up everywhere? I tried looking it up in the dictionary and guess what I found? NOTHING! The word doesn't exist! Why the fuck do people use that word so much?! The people I'm referring to are those damn advertising executives that put that word on their products. Is it SOOO goddamn hard to add that extra 'e' in front of the word to make it spelled correctly?! Okay, let's just say I made a mistake and that the word is in the dictionary and that I happened to have not found it in the one where I was looking the word up. Guess what? Before you flame me and call me an idiot for this rant, take into consideration this: THE WORD MEANS THE SAME SHIT BUT IS ONE FUCKING LETTER LESS!!!!!
I think I know why that word is used a lot, because the 'X' at the beginning of the word makes the word seem so much cooler. You know what I mean. Words like Xmas, or Xover, or Xtra or Xtina Aguilera. And let's not forget the word that this rant is about, Xtreme. First off, the letter 'X' sounds like 'Z' if you pronounce it. Therefore, it sounds like 'Zee' when followed by the letter 'E'. Why do you think we pronounce Xenogears as 'Zee-No-Geer'? Want another xample? How about the word Xenophobia? It's pronounced 'Zee-No-Foe-Bee-A'.
You notice I used the word 'xample' instead of 'example' just above? That's because I tried to see if I could make that word seem cooler. But what's the real result? Instead of looking cooler for using a word that starts with 'x', I made myself look like an idiot because all the people think I made a fucking typo! That is what I think about every time I see words that start with 'x'. Okay, maybe x-over is okay since I use that and write lots of x-over fanfics. Then again, wouldn't that make me a hypocrite? You know what? I don't care, I'm the one writing the rant here so what I think is what matters in this rant. I'm lazy and would rather write it as x-over simply as a shortcut, not to make myself seem cooler by using words beginning with 'x' when it shouldn't be.
When I see words like xmas or xtreme, the first thing that crosses my mind is that they're nothing more than shortcuts to the words Christmas and extreme respectively. Well, lemme ask you this, if you're so damn lazy to write an extra letter or two in a word to make it spelled correctly and feel the need to create shortcuts....then y dont u use shortcuts 4 the rest of whatever ur writing?! You know why you don't? Because it's gay. No, I don't mean 'gay' as it being derogatory toward homosexuality. I have no gripes against homosexuality. I mean gay as....well....gay. Sorry, I can't think of a better word to describe how I view this 'X' stuff.
Anyway, all I'm saying is that I think it's stupid how I see the word 'Xtreme' all over the place. It pisses me off. It's obvious that the 'X' is used instead of 'ex' for a word simply because the letter seems to jump out at you more and grab your attention better. Unfortunately, I'm not one to be so easily amused by shit like that. THINK about it! A word is being changed around to a word that doesn't exist get your attention simply because the X jumps out more if it starts off a word and in capitals!!!
The next time you see the word Xtreme, point it out toward someone, "Hey, they spelled the word 'extreme' wrong". And when someone points it out that that's the way it was supposed to be, just continue to point out that "the word extreme is spelled wrong" and see what they do. Pretty soon, they will give up and realize that either you look stupid for arguing about something so trivial or realize that you're right. And if the word does exist in the dictionary, ask them, "Ah, so since they mean the same thing and is just missing one letter, shouldn't they add shitloads of other words to the dictionary as well, mostly words that start with 'ex'?" (ie: xample, xercise, xperiment, xtension, and so on.). Heck, if you see the word 'Xtreme' say something like this:. "Zee-Treem, what does that mean?", "Extreme? It's pronounced extreme? How's that possible when there is an 'X' in the beginning of the word. Everyone knows the letter 'X' is pronounced like the 'Zee'", "I'm making a big deal about stupid shit? Fuck you! Why don't you just THINK about it for a moment before you readily accept shit for what it is!".
Words that start with X, especially the word Xtreme, piss me off. I have no gripes with words that ARE spelled with X, words like Xenophobia and such. I just think those words like 'extreme' dwelling on the 'words that begin with X' section of the dictionary simply because people who thought of using those words to make such words more noticeable are idiot.
