Where the hell are the Asian characters?

I notice a trend of gay shows popping up on television (ie: shows with gay characters, the kinds that can sit on a lollipop and tell what flavor it is). As I watch, I think about how gay shows are popping up much like the way Black shows popped up back then. (Look, I ain't gonna bother being politically correct by saying 'African American'. Using a capital 'B' for 'Black' is my version of being politically correct). It's like, from out of the blue, shitloads of Black shows popped up. Now, shitloads of gay shows are popping up. This bring up one question. When the hell are Asian shows gonna start popping up? Sure, there was an attempt at breaking into Asian shows when Margaret Cho did this Asian show called 'All-American Girl', but that was met with complete disaster. Heck, she might have single-handedly ruined any chance for new Asian shows of appearing on television.

Man, I can't think of a single Asian character on television at this very moment. No, I don't mean a character PLAYED by an Asian. That doesn't count. I mean an Asian character, as in a true honest-to-goodness Asian character. I have yet to see a single Asian character on television I can relate to, that has Asian traits besides appearance. And I'm talking about a character that has staying power. Oh, we see the occasional Asian character pop up on television shows from time to time....usually on a show that requires someone cheating off them in math, but seriously, there aren't any Asian characters. Okay, we have the Jackie Chan Adventures, but that's animated. Funnily enough, the Uncle in that show is so Asian it ain't funny. I've never seen an Asian character like Uncle in any show before.

All these new shows that seem to be popping up are either Black, or Gay, but not Asian. What gives? Then again, after seeing that fiasco that was 'All-American Girl', I kinda wonder if it's a good thing that there are no Asian shows.

To hell with it. Where the hell are the Asian characters?
