Jeffrey "OneShot" Wong Ranma 1/2: A memorable past 2 Kodachi was walking down the street on her way home from St. Bacchus School for Girls. She was walking alone, this sullen look on her visage. She felt terrible. There had been a martial arts gynastics tournament today. Although she was the captain of the team, her team had lost to the visiting team. They were so close, but in the end, she had choked under the pressure. It was not like her for this to happen. This was the second defeat she had taken in her life. Her first was to that red-headed wench who had the same name as her beloved fiancee. Her mind wandered to Ranma as she wondered what he was up to right now. She hadn't seen him in a long time. He must be playing hard to get. Although the thought of perhaps seeing Ranma on the way home today seemed to cheer her up a bit, she was skeptical that she would see him. What were the chances they would bump into each other? Probably slim. Not once had they ever accidentally met since that fateful day on the roof when her beloved was chasing after a little piglet. She felt sad as she the thought that he avoided her on purpose entered her mind. That couldn't be possible. What would anyone want to avoid someone as beautiful, as elegant and graceful as she. There was no reasonable explanation. That evil Akane must had put a spell on him that keeps him from me, Kodachi thought bitterly. Surely, he would come running into my arms if he had the free will to do so. Right? She wondered about that. Would he really be earger to see her? He never seemed all that thrilled about seeing her when she glomped onto him. But it didn't matter, there must be a perfect reason why he wasn't all that thrilled to see her. Perhaps he's under enchantment. Perhaps he's nervous from being so near someone as beautiful as she. "Surely, that why he's like that. She's intimidated by my beauty" Kodachi said to herself as she giggled. She had now decided that she would pay her beloved Ranma a visit, to tell him not to be scared by her beauty because once he was no longer nervous about being so close to her, they could take their relationship to a whole new level. It was decided, she would definietly see him and tell him. Kodachi's thoughts were interuppted when she heard the crying of a little girl echo through the calm air. It sounded like the girl was cry tears of anguish. Kodachi listened carefully as she pinpointed where the heart-wrenching crying was coming from. It was coming from the park. On any other day, she would had disregarded the cry and went about her business. But for some reason, the crying seemed to tear away at her and tug at her heart strings. "What's wrong?" she asked as she gazed intently at the girl. The girl was very young, no older than eight. She was sitting on a bench, her feet dangling, her legs too short for her feet to touch the gorund. "I-I can't find my Mommy" the girl said between tears. She was holding a brown teddy bear that seemed to comfort her, albeit little. The top of the teddy bear's head was slightly damp from the little girl's tears. Kodachi's heart skipped a beat. She knew exactly what this girl was going through. She, too, had gotten lost once. Thankfully, some nice, young lady helped her out. She remembered it clearly, the lady had comforted her and made her feel safe with her. Even though the lady was a stranger, she felt like she could trust her. In the life she's lived, even when she was young, she rarely trusted anyone. She had helped her cross the street to be with her mother. She had cared for her to keep her out of harm's way. "I-ll help you find her" Kodachi said "What does she look like?" The little girl discribed her mother in detail. It was strange as Kodachi listened, for what the girl discribed sounded like her own mother. Even the highlights of her hair sounded akin to the mother she remembered. Kodachi looked at her watch. It was getting late, and it would soon be dark. She figured it be dark within the next half hour. She couldn't help but feel sorry for the mother. If she had a child, a child as lovely as this little girl, she would be worried sick if she found out she was gone. Kodachi held her hand out toward the girl "Okay, let's go look for her" The little girl looked at Kodachi's hand for a moment, not knowing if she should trust her. Afterall, Kodachi was a stranger. But when she looked into Kodachi's eyes, she felt like there was nothing to worry about. She saw a flicker of caring in them that made her feel safe to be around her. When the girl put her hand in Kodachi's, Kodachi couldn't help but notice that it just felt right. It felt right to be holding this little girl's hand. "Where did you last see her?" she asked, smiling warmly, hoping not to frighten the girl. "Over there" she said, pointing toward a row of stores that dotted along the edge of the park. There were several people there. One of them surely might be the girl's mother. Kodachi nodded as she walked with the little girl toward the stores. As she near her destination, Kodachi caught sight of a young man walking across one of the fields in the park. She took a glance, gasping as she realized it was her beloved Ranma-sama. He had come to see her. She was about to raise her hand, only to realize that someone was holding it. "I think that's her" the girl said, pointing toward a young woman standing on the corner across the street. Kodachi was about to let the girl go running to her mother only to realize the the girl would have to cross the street by herself to reach the mother. She contemplated whether or not she should allow the girl to do so. If she did, then she could go see Ranma. But if she didn't... Kodachi felt guilty that she would even consider letting this little girl cross the street alone. What kind of moster was she to let some innocent girl come into harm's way just so she could be with Ranma? The girl could get hit by a car. She looekd at the girl as she held onto her teddy bear. She looked so innocent that no one should have even considered letting her cross the street alone. Knowing that she was making the right choice, Kodachi proceeded to cross the street, the little girl's hand tautly held in hers. Once across the street, she let go of the girl's hand as the girl quickly scampered toward her worried mother. "Mommy!" the girl said, jumping into her mother's arms. Kodachi smiled as she watched the little reunion take place before her. It brought a smile to her lips. If felt so heartwarming. She wished she could experience in something as beautiful as hugging her daughter. "Thank you" the mother said "I'm very grateful" Kodachi smiled weakly "It's okay. It was no problem" She quickly turned around to crosse the street. She still mnight still be able to catch up to Ranma, where ever he was. But when she got to where she had seen him, he was nowhere to be seen. He was gone. She had lost her oppertunity. Kodachi sighed. She wished she could be with her Ranma-sama right now. She turned around and looked at the mother across the street as she gave the little girl another hug for good measures. It made Kodachi feel warm. Smiling, Kodachi knew she had done the right thing. There's another fanfic. First off, the characters from this story was created by the Rumiko Takahashi. I would never take credit for any of her works. I'm sorry for any spelling or grammatical errors. If you enjoyed this fanfic, I'm happy to say that I'lI continue to write more. I don't know why I really wrote this. I just wrote it as it came to me. P.S.-If you want any of my other fanfics, just ask. Jeffrey "OneShot" Wong
