Ranma 1/2: 

        

(Opening scene: A clear, overhead view of the Tendo's home. It's a 
beautiful summer day out. The camera pans down to show the backyard. 
There, Ranma and Gemna are busy sparring against one another. Everyone 
else is in the dining area. Soun is reading his newspaper. Akane is 
watching the fight, not paying too much attention to the two. Nabiki is 
counting a wad of cash that she swindled off of Kuno yesterday, smiling 
evily. Kasumi is busy sweeping the sidewalk in front.)

Ranma:C'mon, old man,(Ducks under roundhouse)you can do much better than 
that(Jumps over sweep)I'm not even breaking a sweat here.

Genma:(Throws a few punches)I'm holding back, boy.

Ranma:(Dodge punches)Yeah right.

(Ranma casually sticks his leg out as Gemna lunged towards him, tripping 
him into the pond. Gemna surfaces, in panda form. He tries to mutter 
something to Ranma, but it's incoherent. Ranma just smirks and heads off 
towards the house. Before he knew what hit him, he was soaking wet and 
in girl form, Genma splashed him with water)

Ranma-chan:Why didja do that for?!?(Punts the panda into space)Now I 
have to change back!

(Heads towards the house, fuming. Akane silently giggles to herself)

Ranma-chan:(Angry)What's so funny, Akane?

Akane:(Sarcastically)I don't know, your excellent sense for danger.

Ranma-chan:Humph.

(The camera zooms away from the two as they argue, lifted towards the 
sky so we could get a clear view of Nerima. It pans to the left and 
stops on a trail of dust the seems to be emanating from its streets. The 
camera quickly zooms in one disturbance. We immediately realize it's 
Happousei. Slung over his shoulder, a bagful of women's panties)

Happousei:(Happily running away from mob of girls)What a load? I can't
believe how many panties on got in one night.

(There are voices trailing from behind him like "Get back here!","We're
gonna make you pay!", and "Give us back our panties!" But soon the 
voices start dying down as the mob of girls start trailing behind)

Happousei:Ha ha ha, they'll never catch me.

(Happousei qucikly scurries forth, towards his place of residence, the
Tendo's home. By the time he reaches the front gate, he's greeted by 
Kasumi, who was busy sweeping the sidwalk)

Kasumi:Ohiyo gozaimasu

Happousei:Ohiyo, Kasumi(Smiles)How are you today?

Kasumi:I'm doing fine. And you?

Hapoousei:Today's been one of my better days(Readjusts his bagful of
panties, throwing it over his other shoulder)Say, Ranma wouldn't happen 
to be home now, would he?

Kasumi:Yes, he is. He's in the backyard. But he's going to be leaving 
for school in a minute.

(Before Kasumi had a chance to finish her sentence, Happousei casually
hopped over the outerwall, and into the wall itself. He then hops high 
into the air, landing on the roof of the house. There, he places his 
precious
load of panties down and hops off the roof, and into the backyard. 
There, Ranma-chan and Akane are busy arguing)

(Ranma is too caught up with arguing with Akane to realize that 
Happousei is
slowly sneaking up behind him. Akane is also unaware of his presence 
becasue
Ranma was in front of her, blocking her view. We see Happousei tip-toe 
up
to Ranma-chan. Then, all of a sudden, he runs forward between Ranma's 
legs,
turns to face Ranma, and lunges forward, grabbing onto his chest)

Ranma-chan:Eeeeeiiiiiii!!!

Happousei:(His face buried in Ranma-s chest)Oh sweetie, how I've missed 
you
so much.

Ranma-chan:You hentai!!!(Punts Happousei into orbit)

(The camera follows Happousei as he goes flying into the air. After a 
minute, he comes plummetting towards the terra firma. The camera stays 
in the air as Happousei falls, zooming back once he hits the ground. We 
are given a wide screenshot of where Happousei landed. We realize he's 
landed in
anyplace but Nerima. He's landed in an alley in a slum-like 
neighborhood. The camera finally zooms forward so we could clearly see 
where Happousei is)

Happousei:(Fuming)Ranma, I'm gonna get you for that(Sighs)Oh well, 
better
head on home.

(We see happousei look around. He face is contorted in puzzlement. 
Clearly,Happousei doesn't know where he is. All he knows is he's in a 
dirty,refuse-infested alley)

Happousei:Where am I?(Holds his nose)Phew, what's that horrible smell?

(He looks around and notices several carboard boxes lining along the 
walls.Obviously, those were homes for the homeless. Strewn about were 
tatters paper that were once used for blankets. There were several cats 
in the alley, salvaging for food in the trash cans. But there were none, 
for the food had already been scavenged away by the humans living under 
these horrible conditions. Happousei seems clearly disturbed by his 
surroundings. In the far back of the alley, he noticed someone sleeping, 
his head restingon a rock that's used for a pillow. He couldn't tell if 
the man was sleeping or if he was dead)

Happousei:H-how can....people possible live under theese 
conditions(Slowly walks back)

(As Happousei takes a step back, he accidentally steps on a hapless rat 
that happened to have been scurrying past, causing the martial arts 
master to trip and fall backwards, right into an occupied cardboard 
house. The 
house easily collapses in one its sleeping occupant, burying her under 
the refuse that was used as a roof. Happousei quickly hops to his feet 
and was about to run out of the alleyway until he noticed someone was in 
that box. He quickly runs back to the pile of refuse and begins to scoop 
away all the garbage, the horrible stench threatening to overwhelme him)

Happousei:I know I saw someone go under(Frantically scoops more garbage 
away)

(Happousei does this for several minutes, scooping away as much refuse 
his little hands could grab hold of. After a while, he finally sees 
something recognizeable, a hand. Happousei grabs hold of the hand and 
pulls with all his might, pulling the victim free from her garbage heap 
that was once herhome. Happousei, looked at the victim and realized it 
was a little girl, no older than 10. She was probably a lot younger but 
the soot on her face covered her age quite well, making her appear 
older. She was covered in dirt and soot. Her clothes were all ragged and 
ripped. She was unconscious)

Happousei:Oh my god, what have I done?!(Proceeds to give the little girl 
CPR the best he could)

(Happousei does this for a short time. It seemed to have worked because 
thelittle girl started coughing. After a few coughs, she opened her eyes 
and sat upright, bringing up a small amount of blood)

Happouse:Gomen, I didn't mean to do that. I'm sorry.

(The girl gives him a puzzled look, unable to comprehend what had just 
transpired. She looks at him for a moment, and then looks towards her 
home. Her eyes widen when she realizes she no longer has a home. Tears 
fall down the side of her dirty face as she starts to cry)

Happousei:(Sympathetically)Gomen. I didn't mean to do that to your home.

Girl:(Between tears)H-how could you do that to me?.....What did I ever 
do to
y-you?

Happousei:I didn't mean to do it. I swear.

Girl:Now I have no home(Continues crying)

Happousei:Look, I'll find you a new one.

Girl:.............

Happousei:(Gets an idea)Better yet, I'll let you stay at my house.

Girl:(Happy)Really......I've never lived in a house before.

Happousei:Are you serious? You've never lived in a house before?

Girl:Not really. I ran away from the orphanage because there were bad 
people
there.

Happousei:What do you mean...bad people.

Girl:Well, they hit me all the time.

Happousei:(Starting to get angry)What, they hit you?! We have to report 
them.

(Happousei didn't like the fact that people would even sink as low as to 
hitting a poor defenseless child)

Girl:Please, don't.

Happousei:Why not?

Girl:Because I'll be put back in another orphanage if I goto the police. 
I may be young, but I'm not stupid.

Happousei:(Sighs)..............

Girl:I've ran away from three orphanages. Every single one treated me 
badly. They all hit me(Shows Happousei the bruises on her arm)See, I 
just ran away a few days ago. The bruises didn't even heal yet.

Happousei:..........I guess it's best you come live with me for a little 
while so I can find out what I can do with you.

Girl:Why......do you want to get rid of me?

Happousei:No no no.....it's not that. Nevermind. What's your name?

Girl:Me, I'm Lisann.

Happousei:Well, eveyone calls me Happousei, but you could just call me 
Happy.

Lisann:Can I call you grandpa? I've never had a grandpa before.

Happousei:(Smiles)Yes, you can call me that.

(Happousei looked at the little girl intently. Aside from the ragged 
clothes and the dirt and soot that covered her face, she was a very cute 
girl. Her hair was also messy and its true color was hidden under layers 
of dirt. 
She was the same height as him, if not a little shorter. Obviously, the 
malnutrition had stunt her growth. When she had called Happousei 
grandpa, something in him clicked. He had never been called that before. 
He never had children, thus, no grandchildren. He had always wondered 
how it would feel like to act as a grandpa, and now was his chance)

Happousei:C'mon lets go(Offers her his hand)

Lisann:Okay, grandpa(Takes hand)

(Happousei noticed how rough Lisann's hand felt to the touch. Obviously, 
living on the streets did that to the hands, what with them always being 
used to scavage through garbage cans for food. And speaking of food....)

Happousei:Lisann, are you hungry?

Lisann:No, I'm fine(Her stomach rummbles)

Happousei:Then what was that?

Lisann:(Embarressed)My stomach.

Happousei:Why would you lie about being hungry?

Lisann:Because...I don't want to cause you any problems.

(Happousei checks his pockets. At first, he pulls out a bra, which he 
quickly pockets before Lisann saw. He reachs into the other pocket and 
produces a fist full of money)

Happousei(Smiles):Don't worry, I have enough money.

Lisann:No, I can't(stomach rummbles louder)

Happousei:Don't worry, I'll be happy to treat you.

Lisann:But I can't go into any restaurant.....look at me.....I'm dirty 
and smelly and-

Happousei:(Interrupting)Don't worry 'bout what others think. I'll take 
care of them.

Lisann:Well....if you put it that way.....okay(Smiles)

(Happousei smiles as he leads the girl out of the dark and dirty alley. 
When they step out into the open, people who are walking by give the two 
these disgusted looked, especially towards Lisann. Happousei notices 
this and is very bothered at how cruel the world could actually be. 
Lisann doesn't seemed to be bothered that much because nothing was going 
to ruin her day. She was actually going to eat something that she didn't 
find in a garbage can. Nothing could spoil her day)

Lisann:Where are we going, grandpa?

Happousei:(Realizing that he actually likes becing called that)Uh...I 
don'treally know. What do you like to eat?

Lisann:Well, I eat whatever I could find.

Happousei:...............

Lisann:I do like eating chicken. I find alot of chicken leftovers in the 
trash cans and I guess I got used to it up to the point of acutally 
liking it.

Happousei:Okay.....chicken it is.

(Happousei, now keen on finding a restaurant that serves chicken, is no 
longer effected by the weird looks given towards them. He doesn't even 
notice the couple crossing the street to avoid them....well....more like
avoiding Lisann. They continue walking down the streets for several 
minutes before they come across a restaurant that speciallized in 
chicken)

Happousei:Ah, here we go(Reads the sign)The Chicken Palace.

Lisann:Is that what the sign says?

(When he heard her say that, he was deeply disturbed that she couldn't 
read. He couldn't believe no one even bothered to give the little girl a 
decent education)

Happousei:(A bit sad)Yeah....that's what it says.....c'mon, lets go in.

(The two head in. The restaurant was very busy, everyone busy talking 
away. But as soon as they enter, everything goes quiet. All eyes goes on 
the two, most of them on the dirty little girl. Some eyes were on 
Happousei, not believing that someone would even associate with trash 
like her, let alone hold her hand)

Lisann:(Tugs at Happousei's hand)I don't think they want me here.

Happousei:I don't really care. We're goin' to eat here whether they like 
it or not.

Lisann:(A bit worried)I don't think they would serve us.

Happousei:..........C'mon, lets find a seat.

(The two find a seat in one of the corners of the restaurant, and they 
both get seated. Lisann ends up sitting across from Happousei. Happousei 
happily hands Lisann the menu, but regrets doing so when he realizes she 
can't read. His face saddens when he notices that Lisann is pretending 
she could read.He takes the menu back and starts reading her the list of 
foods she could choose from. As he starts reading them one by one, one 
of the waiters come to the table, placing a hand on Happousei's 
shoulder)

Waiter:Sir, I'm goin' to hafta ask you and the little girl to leave. 
You're distracting the customers.

Happousei:No we're not. What're we doin' wrong?

Waiter:(A bit angry)Sir, you're disturbing the customers. I'm gonna 
hafta ask you to leave now.

Lisann:I think we should leave, grandpa. I don't want to be the cause of 
any trouble.

Happousei:Don't worry about it, you're not causing any trouble. They're 
theones causing it(Turns to waiter with a mean 
smirk)My....uh....granddaughterand I would like to order our food now

(Happousei takes out one of his bombs to emphasize his words. The waiter 
gives him a nervous glance, and then sighs. He knew he wasn't going to 
win in this situation)

Waiter:(Sigh)What would you like?

(The two order their meals and are served almost immediately. It seems 
the owners of the store wants them both out as soon as possible. When 
their meals arrive, Happousei noticed how Lisann's eyes widened after 
seeing all that food. She starts devouring into the food, using nothing 
but her dirtyhands. Happousei patiently stops Lisann from her ravenous 
eating)

Happousei:Lisann, slow down. We're in no hurry. C'mon, go wash your 
hands first.

(Happousei smiles inwardly as Lisann did what he told her to do. He 
happily escorts her to the restroom)

Lisann: (Comes back)Grandpa.

Happousei: Um, what is it?

Lisann: Which bathroom should I go in? There are two.

Happousei: The one that says 'females' on the door.

Lisann: ..................

Happousei: (Realizing)I'm an idiot. She can't read. (Speaks)C'mon, I'll 
be glad to show you.

(Hops out of chair and escorts Lisann to the girl's restroom and waits 
outside while she heads inside
to wash up. As he stands there, he couldn't help but notice that he 
didn't even try and go into the girl's restroom with Lisann. Afterall, 
he had the perfect excuse, helping out his granddaughter. He noticed 
that ever since he met Lisann, he has been acting differently, not so 
strung up on his needs but on the needs of another)

Lisann:(Emerging from the restroom)How 'bout now? Is this better?

(Happousei was amazed that it was the same girl who had walked into the 
restroom a few minutes ago. Lisann looked like a totally different 
person. Although she still had a bit of dirty and soot in her hair, one 
could easily discern the color, blond. Her face was no longer dirty, the 
dirt gone to expose her rosey cheeks and olive-like skin. She had an 
angelic face, as if she was a little princess)

Lisann:How do I look?

Happousei:(Smiles warmly)You look like a little princess.

Lisann:Domo arigato(Smiles back)

(The two head back to there seats where they continue on with their 
eating. At first, Lisann starts eating with her hands again, but soon 
learns how to use the chopsticks when Happousei joyously teaches her. 
When they finish their meals, the two leave for the front to pay for 
their meals)

Happousei:How much will that be?(Reaches into his pocket for some money)

Cashier:It's on the house. Just leave.

(Happousei's face saddens when he notices Lisann's visage change to 
sullen. He realized that she understood what he meant by asking them to 
leave. She understood that they didn't want her and Happousei to be 
there)

Happousei:(A bit angry)I said, how much will that be?

Cashier:(A bit nervous)Uh.....1050 yen.

Happousei:Here(Gives the cashier the proper amount of money, all the 
while giving the cashier a dirty stare for having told the two to just 
leave)

(Once paid, Happousei and Lisann left the restaurant. One they were on 
the streets again, Happousei noticed that Lisann was getting the same 
kind of stares from the passing residents like the restaurant they were 
in a 
minute ago)

Happousei:(Notices the forming clouds above)C'mon, I'll take you to my 
place. We don't want to be caught outside if it starts raining.

Lisann:Okay....but where're we headed.

Happousei:C'mon, hop on my back, we're goin' for a ride.

(Lisann just shrugs her shoulders and happily hops on Happousei's back. 
Afterall, she's never had a piggieback ride before and wasn't about to 
pass that up)

Happousei:Now hold on tight, deary, we're going for a little ride.

(With that said, Happousei bounded high up into the sky, Lisann giggling 
joyously as she held tight, landing on top of one of the roofs. There, 
he spies a familiar looking building in the Nerima district, and heads
towards that direction, easily hopping from one rooftop to another)

Lisann:(Happily)Wheeee.

Happousei:You wanna go higher?

Lisann:Can you do that?

(Happousei smiles as he easily leaps high into the sky. Lisann's golden 
hair fluttered in the wind as they soared through the air, her shouts of 
glee echoing through the day. Never in her life had she ever had this 
much fun. Happousei easily bounds across the town, each of his leaps 
higher than the prior one. After a short time, they finally arrive near 
a familiar looking high school, Furinkin High. Happousei easily lands in 
the courtyard. He gently lets Lisann of his back)

Lisann:(Suriously)Where are we, grandpa?

Happousei:(Breathing a little heavily)We're in Furinkin High's 
courtyard.

Lisann:Wow, we're at a school? I've never been to one of those before.

Happousei:(Smiles wryly to himself)How would you like to meet one of my 
disciples. He goes to this school.

Lisann:Sure.....I'd like to meet him.

Happousei:Just wait here for a minute. I'll be right back.

Lisann:Okay(Heads off towards a nearby tree where she waits patiently)

(Happousei looks up towards one of the open windows on the third story. 
He easily jumps up, and through that window. In the hallway, he spots 
two students standing in the hallway, both with buckets of water in 
their hands. It's Ranma and Akane. They're too busy arguing to realize 
someone just entered the hallway via the open window just down the hall 
from them.)

Ranma:It's not my fault.

Akane:What?! Of course it is! If it weren't for you always fighting 
Kuno, we would've been on time!

Ranma:Since when did I ask you to help me. It's not like I need help 
from a tomboy like you.

Akane:(Hold bucket menacingly)How would you like Kuno to see his pig-
tailed goddess here.

Ranma:(Drops back defensively)No, you wouldn't.

(Before Ranma could react, Happousei quickly sneaked up behind him and 
grabbed the bucket of water out of his hands, splashing him with it. 
When Ranma changed into his female form, Happousei lunged forward and 
grabbed onto her, burying his face deep in her chest)

Ranma-chan:Aieeeee!!!

Happousei:Where have you been.....I've missed you so much.

(Ranma-chan slams happousei into ground facefirst so hard that he ends 
up burying the pervert a foot into the floor)

Ranma-chan:Man, where'd he come from?!

Akane:.............

(Happousei hops out of the hole in the floor, casually dusting the 
rubble off like it was nothing. As he dusts himself off, he gives Ranma 
an annoyed look)

Happousei:Ranma, I have a favor to ask of you.

Ranma-chan:Nani? Why would I help a little hentai like you?!

Happousei:All kidding aside........

Ranma-chan:No. I don't trust you.

Akane:Why're you askin' Ranma for a favor? What favor are you askin' of?

Happousei:I need to borrow his room for a little while.

Ranma-chan:Nani?! No way!

Akane:Why do you need his room?

Happousei:(Guesturing to a window overlooking the courtyard)C'mere. You 
see
that little girl sitting by that tree?

Ranma-chan and Akane:Uh huh.

Happousei:She needs a place to stay.

Akane:Are you kiddin' me?

Happousei:I kinda destroyed her home, and now she needs a place to stay.

Ranma-chan:Why should we help you out? You're the one who wrecked her 
home.

Happousei:She's homeless. I accidentally destroyed the carboard box she 
was living in.

(Ranma and Akane stared at Happousei for several silent moments. Nothing 
like this had ever happened. They have never been in a situation like 
that before. How would one act if they were given to opportunity to 
shelter the shelterless?)

Happousei:Look.....it'll only be for a short time.

Akane:Uh......I guess it's all right then.

Ranma-chan:Nani?! Where're Pops and I gonna stay?

Happousei:(Smiles wryly)You could stay with Akane.

Ranma-chan:What?!? No way.

Happousei:Okay, I'll stay with Akane and the girl could use my room.

Akane:Nani?! No way am I gonna stay in the same room as you(Turns to 
Ranma)Ranma, you and your dad are goin' to hafta give your room up. 
Happousei:You two can argue about this.....I've got other things I've 
got to worry about.

(Happousei jumps out of one of the open windows, landing softly in the 
courtyard. Akane and Ranma stopped their fighting to see what Happousei 
was doing. They watched in disbelief as Happousei guestured for the 
little girl to hop on his back. Once on his back, they saw him leap off 
towards the a direction unknown, the little girl squeeling in joy)

Ranma-chan:What's with the old lech? I've never seen him act nice to 
anyone before.

Akane:I don't know. Maybe he's finally changing.

(Ranma and look towards each other for a second...and then start wailing 
in laughter. As they laugh, the teacher emerges from the room)

Teacher:Quiet!(Sees Ranma-chan and Akane)Where's Ranma?

Akane:Uh......he's....um........

Ranma-chan:I'm right here, teach.

Teacher:(Gives Ranma a good look over)No, you're not Ranma. Ranma's a 
guy. Ooh....he's gonna get it when I get my hands on him(Slams the door 
shut)

Ranma-chan:Great, just great. Now I'm in even more trouble.

(The scene changes to Happousei, Lisann on his back, as he hop from 
rooftop to rooftop. They arrive at the front enterence of the Tendo's 
home. There, Kasumi is sweeping the sidewalk)

Kasumi:(Smiling sweetly)Konnichiwa.

Happousei:(Sets Lisann down)Konnichiwa.

Kasumi:(Notices Lisann)And who are you, little girl?

Lisann:(Smiles)I'm Lisann.

Kasumi:Hello, Lisann. How are you doing today?

Lisann:I'm doing fine.

(Lisann seems to like the thought that someone would even care how she 
was doing....)

Happousei:Lisann's gonna be staying with us for a little while.

Kasumi:That's nice. Make yourself at home. I'll go bake you some 
cookies.

(Kasumi opens the front gate and disappears through it, leaving Lisann 
and Happousei alone.)

Happousei:(Noticing just how potent a stench Lisann reeked of)When was 
the last time you took a bath?

Lisann:About a week ago.

Happosei:Well, let's get you into a bath. We should wash all that dirt 
off.

Lisann:I guess you're right. But I was kinda gettin' used to it.

(Happousei just sighs as he opens the gate for Lisann to enter. Lisann 
hesitates for a moment, not knowing what to do.)

Happousei:Go on in. I'll be right behind you.

(Lisann smiles, and then follows his instructions. Happousei follws 
behind her as she walks up to the front door. He opens it up for her, 
and she enters.)

Lisann: Wow, this is a big house. I've never been in one before. 

Happousei:(Sighing)Here, lettme show you to the bathroom. I'll go get 
you some clean clothes. You looked like you're the same size as me. I'll 
give you some of my clothes.

(He heads down the hallway as Lisann follows him. He shows her the room 
to the bathroom. He opens the door for her as she enters.)

Happosei:You go on and take a bath now. I'll bring you some clothes.

Lisann:Okay, grandpa.(Enters the bathroom)

(For some reason, that sounded right. Happouse smiled as he headed 
upstairs to his room to fetch some of his clothes. He ends up making a 
mess of his room as to throws all his clean clothes onto the floor as he 
looks through the draws for a certain outfit.)

Happousei:Where are they?(Finds what he's looking for)Here it is. It's 
perfect.

(Happousei quickly scampers back downstairs, he knocks on the door)

Lisann:(Calling out)Come in. It's open.

(Happousei opens the door and enters. If any other female was in the 
bathroom, he would have kept his eyes open, but for Lisann, he respected 
her right to privacy and kept them shut as he entered)

Happousei:(Eyes closed)Here's you go.(Feels his way around to one of the 
shelves)Here, I'll leave them on this shelf.

Lisann:Gandpa, can you help me wash my back?

Happousei:(Knowing better)I better not. I want to give you your privacy.

Lisann:But I can't wash it. My shoulder hurts when I try.

Happousei:(Eyes still closed)How come?

Lisann:The people at the orphage hurt my shoulder. I can't move it 
aroundlike I used to. And it hurts a lot when I try to wash my back.

Happoseui:(Muttering to himself)Why those lousy no-good....

(Happousei's heart cried out for her. He sighed as he opened his eyes to 
help her wash her back. She needed help, and he could deny her that. He 
was shocked to realize that her hair was bundled up high in a little 
bun, 
her back exposed.)

Happousei:(Noticing scars on Lisann's back)W-where did you get those 
scars?

Lisann:Those people at the orphanage would hit me.

Happousei:(Anger rising)What they're doing is not right. I'm gonna 
report them.

Lisann:What does that mean?

Happousei:I'm gonna tell someone that you're being treated that way. 
They're not supposed to be doing that. It's not right.

Lisann:So what will happen?

Happousei:They'll probably close the orphanage down.

Lisann:No, you can't do that. Where will Mioki go?

Happousei:Mioki?

Lisann:She's my friend. She helped me get out of there. Where will she 
go?

Happousei:..............

Lisann:Grandpa.

Happousei:Yes, sweetie.

Lisann:Do you think Mioki's all right?

Happousei:She's probably doing fine.

Lisann:Is there anyway you can find out for me? I don't want to go there 
myself because they would not let me leave if I came back.

Happousei:(Smiling)Sure thing. I'll do that right after you take your 
bath.

Lisann:Okay(Starts taking a bath)

(There is a knock on the door)

Kasumi: Lisann, your cookies are ready. You can come out now and eat 
while they're still fresh from the oven.

Lisann: (Happily)Okay. (To Happousei)Am I clean enough to go eat now?

Happousei: Um, you haven't washed your hair yet. Just wash your hair and 
then we could eat, okay?

Lisann: (Smiles)Okay.

(Lisann obidiently follows Happousei's orders. Once finished, she walks 
over and fetches her clothes and starts putting them on)

Happousei: What are you doing?

Lisann: I'm putting my clothes back on. Did I do something wrong?

Happousei: No. Of course not. (Fetches the clothes he brought down 
earlier)These clothes are for you. You could wear these.

Lisann: They are? Wow, I thought you didn't mean it when you said you 
were gonna go get me some clothes to wear. The people at the orphanage 
never let me wear anything else but these clothes.

Happousei: (Fists clenched).........................

(Lisann puts Happousei's clothes on. It fits perfectly)

Lisann: Wow, I like these. Can I keep them or do I hafta give them back 
later?

Happousei: Later? Give them back? Oh, no. They're yours.

Lisann: For keeps?

Happousei: Yes, for keeps.

Lisann: (Hugs Happousei)Thank you, grandpa.

(Happousei smiles and then returns the hug. They both leave the 
bathroom)

Happousei: Come on, Lisann, let's go eat some cookies.

Lisann: (Happily)Yeah!!

(The two go to the kitchen where Kasumi has set a plate of cookies and 
glass of milk on the table. Kasumi is no where around.)

Happousei: I wonder where Kasumi went.

(Soun enters the kitchen to get someting to eat. He spots Happousei)

Soun: (Nervously)M-master. Y-you're home early.

Happousei: Soun, my boy, just the person I wanted to talk to.

Soun: W-what d-do you mean by that?

Happousei: Soun, I would like you to meet Lisann.

(Happousei gestures to Lisann next to him, but she isn't there.)

Happousei: Huh? Where did she go?

(Happousei finally spots her, who has scuttled to the corner of the 
kitchen, a bit scared)

Happousei: Lisann, there's no need to be afraid.

Lisann: But he's an adult, grandpa.

Soun: (Shocked)G-grandpa?

Happousei: Adult? But I'm an adult also.

Lisann: But you won't hit me like all those adults at the orphanage...

Happousei: ..................

Soun: Hit you? Why would I hit you?

Happousei: Don't worry, he will never hurt you, not even your 
feelings(To Soun menacingly)now would he?

Soun: (Nervous)O-of course not.

Happousei: Good. (To Lisann)You see. He's harmless. He won't hurt you. 
He's not like those bad people at the orphanage. Not all adults are like 
them.

Soun: Um, exactly where did she come from?

Happousei: Oh, I was getting to that. (Gestures to Lisann)Lisann here 
will be staying with us indefinitely.

Soun: (Getting angry)What?! 

(Lisann shrinks back and starts crying)

Happousei: (Concerned)Lisann, there's no need to cry. Please, don't cry. 
(To Soun)Apologize to her.

Soun: (Nervously)Um, little girl, I didn't mean to make you cry. W-what 
he said caught me by surprise...

Lisann: .....................

Happousei: But he's all right with it...you staying here from now on, 
that is. (To Soun)Right?

Soun: (Nervous)R-right. 

Happousei: You see. There's no reason to cry.

(Lisann sniffles a few times before she stops crying)

Happousei: You go on and eat your cookies, deary. 

Soun: .......................

(Happousei and Soun leave the room to talk alone)

Soun: What's the meaning of this? I can't afford to feed another mouth, 
no matter how small she is. Even if she is your....by the way...I never 
knew you had a granddaughter.

Happousei: I don't.

Soun: Then why does she call you grandpa?

Happousei: Why not?

Soun: ....................I guess you have a point there.

Happousei: Anyway, you're a resourceful person. You'll find a way. Now, 
I have a little girl that needs my attention.

Soun: Hold on one second. What do you plan on doing?

Happousei: What else, take her under my wing, make her my disciple. But 
first, I have to do something about that orphanage. That's where you 
come in.

Soun: What?! What do you mean by that?

Happousei: Well, as the head of the town committee, it's your job to 
expose the orphanage she used to be in of all their ways.

Soun: Me? How? Why?

Happousei: Yes, you. You'll call a town meeting and let everyone know 
that the orphanage where Lisann here grew up, and reveal to them that 
the orphanage are abusing the children living there.

Soun: They're abusing the children? I don't believe you. Who on earth 
would abuse children?

(From inside the kitchen, a glass breaks. Happousei and Soun quickly go 
to the kitchen. Inside, they find a broken glass on the floor, milk 
splattered all over. Lisann has a frightened look on her face.)

Lisann: (Scared)I-I'm sorry. T-the glass slipped from my hands. (Tears 
forming)Please don't hit me. (Starts crying)

Soun: ........................

Happousei: (Walks over to Lisann and hugs here) Don't worry, no one will 
hit you(To Soun)Now do you believe me?

Soun: ........................

(The scene changes. Happousei and Lisann pass time as they sit by the 
koi pond, Lisann feeding the fish tiny bits of food at timed intervals)

Lisann: (Happy)This is so fun. I never feeded a fish before.

Happousei: (Thinking)I can't believe something as simple as feeding fish 
can keep someone happy and busy for so long. (Talks)I'm glad you're 
having fun. And there proper word is 'fed' not 'feeded'

Lisann: Oh...(A bit sad)I must sound stupid to you....

Happousei: What? Of course not. 

(The front door opens, signalling Ranma and Akane and Nabiki getting 
home from school)

Happousei: Good, the rest are home from school. Now I can introduce you. 
You already met Kasumi and Genma...

Lisann: (Smiles)The panda man.

Happousei: (Smiles)Yeah, the panda man.

Lisann: (Obediently)Okay. I guess I'll have to meet them sooner or 
later.

(Happousei and Lisann go to the dining area where everyone is gathered. 
There, Lisann meet Ranma and Akane and Nabiki for the first time)

Lisann: (Shyly)H-hi. I'm Lisann.

Ranma: Um, hiya, Lisann. I'm Ranma.

Akane: And I'm Akane.

Nabiki: Um, I'm Nabiki (To Soun)Um, who is she?

Soun: (Softly)She's going to be staying here with us. She's an orphan.

Nabiki: Oh.

Ranma: Um...make yourself at home.

Lisann: T-thank you. 

(A short moment of silence ensues)

Lisann: I wanna go feed the fish.

Happousei: Okay, you go on ahead and do so.(Smiles)

(Lisann walks over to the fish pond and sits down, her tiny feet 
dangling into the water. She start to throw bread for the fish to eat)

Soun: Um, Lisann, don't feed the fish too much. You over feed it and it 
will die.
  
Lisann: (Shocked)I-I can o-overfeed it?

Soun: Yes. Just give it a little bit of food at a time.

Lisan: Okay.

Happousei: Soun, what are you waiting for? Go call a town meeting and 
tell them of what's going on.

Soun: Um, y-yes master.(Leaves)

Akane: (To Ranma)She's very cute.

Ranma: Eh? (Looks at Lisann)Yeah, you're right. She is very cute.

(Lisann giggles as the fish swims up to her feet)

Lisann: That feels funny.(Giggles)

Akane: So, have you thought about what you're going to do?

Ranma: Eh? About what?

Akane: What do you think? About your room. Are you going to give up your 
room?

Ranma: ........................

Akane: (Watches Lisann)I guess I could let Lisann sleep in my room with 
me. She seems like a sweet girl.

Ranma: (Shrugs shoulders)Well, I guess it would be better if she stays 
with you. I mean, you're both girls and all....even though you are a 
tomboy.

Akane: Ranma!

(Lisann looks up from the pond and toward Akane. Akane sees Lisann gaze 
on her. She quickly calms down)

Akane: You're lucky she's here, Ranma. I'll let that slide.

(Ranma smirks)

Kasumi: (Emerges from house)Dinner will be ready in a little while.

Happousei: Oh, there you are, Kasumi. I was wondering where you went off 
to, deary.

Kasumi: I took a quick trip over to the grocery store to pick up some 
ingredients. I'll go prepare dinner now. (Looks at Lisann)Lisann.

Lisann: Yes?

Kasumi: What's your favorite food?

Lisann: .......................

Akane: Um, do you have something you like to eat more than anything 
else?

Lisann: (Shakes her head)I don't know. All I ever ate was mostly bread. 
Everything else tasted yucky.

Happousei: ......................

Ranma: Jus' bread? Nothing else? What about something like, say, ice 
cream?

(Akane elbows Ranma in the ribs)

Lisann: Ice cream?

Ranma: Um, er, nevermind.

Kasumi: I know. I'll make something I'm sure you'll like. How does curry 
sound?

Lisann: Curry? What's that?

Ranma: Yeah. You know-

(Akane elbows Ranma in the ribs again)

Ranma: (To Akane)Why do ya keep hitting me?

Akane: Don't be so stupid. Lisann doesn't _know_. All she's eaten was 
bread. 

Ranma: ...................

Akane: (To Lisann)Well, you're in for a surprise. Kasumi's curry is 
delicious.

Kasumi: Thank you, Akane.

Ranma: (Mutters)Povided Akane doesn't help out in the kitchen.

Akane: (Getting angry)Ranma! (Remembers Lisann)Um, er, that's not nice 
to say. I'm trying my best and that's what counts.

Ranma: (Gets the picture)Um, I guess you're right. Trying your best is 
what counts.

Happousei: So, have you kids decided where Lisann will be sleeping?

Akane: Um, yes. She could sleep in my room with me.

Happousei: Okay. (Gets an idea)Lisann, come with me. I'll show you 
Akane's room for you.

Akane: Oh no you don't. I don't want you snooping through my drawers. 
I'll show Lisann my room. You can stay here, Hap....grandpa. (Eye 
twitches a bit)

(Akane extends a hand for Lisann to take hold of. Lisann hesitantly 
takes Akane's hand)

Akane: (Thinking to herself)Gee, her hands are so small, yet they're all 
callused and hard. They're supposed to be soft. (Speaks)If g-grandpa 
didn't show you yet, I'll give you a tour of the house.

Lisann: No. Grandpa never showed me. I'd love to see how the house 
looks.

(Together, Lisann and Akane enter the house)

Ranma: Man, this is quite the turn of events.

(Genma emerges from the house. He is immediately splashed with water by 
Happousei)

Happousei: (Smirking)Lisann considers you the Panda Man. I think she 
likes the Panda. Go make her happy.

Genma: ......................

Happousei: Go!

(Genma quickly runs into the house)

Ranma: So, how long is she going to be stayin' here?

Happousei: I don't know. Indefinitely perhaps.

Ranma: I-indefinitely? You can't be serious.

Happousei: Not unless I can find her a real good family that will love 
her.

Ranma: ...................

(Genma, in his panda form, and Akane and Lisann enter the room)

Akane: (To Lisann)And where back to where we've started, the dining 
area.

Lisann: (Smiles)That was very fun. 

(Lisann walks over to Genma where she proceeds to pet the panda lovingly 
like it was her own pet. Genma doesn't seem to mind)

Ranma: (Mostly to himself)Hm, she seems to be easily amused.

Happousei: (Glares at Ranma)And what's so wrong with that? Eh?

Ranma: (Smirks)I ain't scared of you. 

Happousei: (Wryly)You should be. Don't make me angry.

Lisann: (Frightened)Are you two angry at me? Did I do something wrong?

Nabiki: (Smirks)You did nothing wrong, Lisann. They just happen to 
bicker a lot. They can't help it.

Lisann: Oh. 

Soun: (Entering room)I have called for a town meeting like you asked 
for, Master. It will take place tomorrow night. 

Happousei: Well, I guess that's it. Tomorrow then. (Turns toward 
Lisann)Lisann.

Lisann: (Still petting the panda)Yes?

Happousei: Are you interested in martial arts?

Lisann: What's that?

Happousei: ......................

Ranma: Um, it's a form of self-defense.

Lisann: What do you mean?

Happousei: (Takes Lisann's hand)C'mon, I'll take you to the dojo. I'll 
show you.

Lisann: (Looks at panda)Bye, Mr. Panda.

(She follows Happousei to the dojo)

Akane: (To Ranma)Happousei is going to teach Lisann martial arts.....

Ranma: That's a bit strange.

Akane: How so?

Ranma: When was the last time he ever voluntarily taught martial arts to 
anyone?

Akane: That's true.

Ranma: I hope he doesn't teach Lisann like he did Hinako.

(Akane and Ranma look at one another before they quickly sprint for the 
dojo. They enter and see Lisann sitting down and watching Happousei 
doing kata forms. They both watch. After a few minutes, Happousei is 
finished with his kata and walks up to Lisann, who is clapping)

Lisann: (Smiles)That looks fun.

Happousei: (Breathing heavily)I can teach you, if you're interested. 
(Wipes sweat from brow)Of course, it does require a bit of stamina.

Lisann: ................

Happousei: Is something the matter?

Lisann: I don't think I can do it. 

Happousei: Why not?

Lisann: Because......it looks hard. I don't think I can learn to do 
something like that.

Happousei: (Smiles patiently)Don't worry about it. It'll come very easy 
to you. I promise.

Lisann: (Smiles)You do? You mean it isn't hard?

Happousei: Not at all, deary. I'll show you the basics, step by step. 
You'll get the hang of it in no time.

Lisann: Okay. I believe you.

Happousei: That's my girl.

(Happousei smiles and then starts to laugh in joy at the thought of 
helping out a little girl.)

(From the doorway, Ranma turned toward Akane)

Ranma: Jeez, I never heard him laugh like that before.

Akane: I know what you mean. It's almost scary.....

Kasumi: (Calling out from house)Dinner is ready.

Happousei: (Smiles)Ah, let's go something to eat.

Lisann: (Hopeful)Do I get to eat too?

Happousei: ....................(Nods)Why, of course you do. You can 
consider yourself as part of the family. 

Lisann: R-really? 

Happousei: Yep. (Smiles)Let's go eat.

Lisann: Okay.

Happousei: (Gets an idea)Hey, I'll race you to the house.

Lisann: A race? You mean as in a game? You wanna play a game with me?

Happousei: Yep.

(Lisann makes a dash for the entrance to the dojo but trips over her own 
feet and tumbles to a halt. Ranma and Akane, who had been by the 
doorway, rush to her side)

Akane: Lisann, a-are you okay?

Lisann: (Sad)......................

Ranma: Are you all right? Didja hurt yourself?

Happousei: (Rushing to side)Are you okay?

Lisann: I-I'm okay. I just fell and went boom. (Shows slightly skinned 
knee)I guess I'm clumsy.

Ranma: (Smiles and turns toward Happousei)Hey, oyaji, no need to pop an 
artery. She's fine.

Happousei: .....................(Thinking)Why is my heart racing so 
fast?

Akane: (Looks at skinned knee)We better get that treated.

Happousei: (Stands in front of Lisann)Here, hop on my back, I'll piggie 
back ride ya to the house.

(Ranma and Akane look at each other and then down at Happousei. They 
watch as Lisann obediently listen to Happousei and do as she was told. 
Once she was on his back, Happousei heads out of the dojo.)

Happousei: (Thinking)No more races.

(Alone in the dojo, Ranma turn toward Akane)

Ranma: (Smirking)Well, now that Lisann's here, I guess now you're not 
the only one in this house that's clumsy.

Akane: Baka!(Hits Ranma)

(The scene changes onto the dining area. Everyone is gathered around the 
table. Lisann is sitting next to Happousei, a band-aid on her knee.)

Kasumi: (To Lisann)How did you hurt your knee? Was it in the dojo a 
short while ago?

Lisann: I fell down and went boom. It doesn't hurt.

Soun: You should be more careful next time. We wouldn't want you having 
any scars. It doesn't look right on a pretty girl like you.

Happousei: ....................

Ranma: (Thinking)What's with the old lech? Why does he look angry all of 
a sudden?

Soun: Since you will be staying with us, you'll be attending school, ne? 
Class will be starting very soon.

Nabiki: What grade will you be in? Forth grade? Third?

Lisann: I don't know. I've never been to a school before.

Nabiki: (A bit taken aback)N-never?

Lisann: No.

(Everyone was silent for a moment. Soun and Nabiki looked like they 
regretted saying something like that.)

Ranma: Well, then that'll mean you'll be in kindergarten. You seem a bit 
old to be in kindergarten. Hey, how old are you?

Lisann: I don't know.

Akane: You don't know?

Lisann: I don't know my birthday. I've never celebrated it before.

Kasumi: Oh my. 

Akane: That's so sad. Um, how old do you think you are?

Lisann: I don't know. I'm at least three. I remember three years back.

Ranma: You're older than three. You must be somewhere around....eight or 
so.

Lisann: I don't know. No one ever told me how old I was.

Happousei: Well, how about we celebrate your birthday?

Lisann: (Eyes widening)Really? I've never celebrated a birthday before.

Happousei: Yeah, you're birthday will be tomorrow. You'll turn eight 
tomorrow.

Kasumi: (Smiles)That sounds like a good idea. I can bake you a cake.

Lisann: Really? I'd love to try out cake. I've never had one before.

(Everyone was silent)

Happousei: Um, yes. Kasumi will make you a big cake. One bigger than 
you.

Lisann: (Smiles)Yeah!

Happousei: Well, that settles it then. Now, let's eat.

Lisann: Yeah!

(Everyone proceed to eat. However, everyone couldn't help but notice a 
lack of manners in the little girl. She is picking food up with her 
hands. She didn't even notice that the food was hot because her hands 
were so rough that she couldn't really feel the heat.)

Happousei: (Patiently)Lisann.

Lisann: (Stops eating)Yes, grandpa?

(Happousei gestures toward chopsticks by Lisann's plate)

Happousei: Remember when I showed you how to use chopsticks back there 
in the restaurant?

Lisann: (Nods)Um hm.

(Lisann picks up the chopsticks and tries to use them. She has trouble 
and fumbles around, the food falling off the chopstick before she can 
bring it to her mouth. Eventually, she manages to use them somewhat 
competently that she is able to eat. Happousei seems to have a big smile 
on his face when Lisann proceed to pick food up faster and faster. After 
the meal, Lisann yawns)

Happousei: Are you tired?

Lisann: Yeah.

Akane: (Gets up)All right. I'll take you to my room.(Holds hand out)

(Lisann stares at Akane's hand for a moment before she takes it and 
follows her upstairs. But before they do go upstairs, Lisann appears 
back into the room)

Lisann: That was a delicious meal. Thank you very much.(Leaves)

Soun: What a sweet girl.

Nabiki: It's too bad she had an unfortunate life. 

Ranma: Yes. (Turns toward Happousei)So what's the whole story? You said 
you destroyed Lisann's home?

Happousei: Basically.

Nabiki: I guess Happousei feels obligated to help Lisann out because of 
what he did.

Kasumi: Nabiki, that's not nice.

Happousei: (Shakes head)On the contrary. I'm helping her out because I 
seem to have grown quite attached to her.

Ranma: I'm gonna go upstairs and check on Lisann and Akane.

(Inside Akane's room, Lisann is sitting on the bed.)

Lisann: If you're gonna let me sleeping in your bed, then where are you 
gonna sleep?

Akane: (Smiles)Don't worry about it. We have a spare bed upstairs in the 
attic. I'll just fetch it down.

(There is a knock on the door)

Akane: C'min.

Ranma: (Entering)So, Lisann, you getting settled in?

Lisann: Yep. Akane's letting me sleep in her bed.

Ranma: What about you, Akane? Where are you gonna be sleeping? (Eyes 
narrows)And don't expect to be sleeping in my room.

Akane: (Blushing)A-and what makes you think I would want to do that?

Ranma: Well, because with me and pop sleeping in there, it'll be too 
crowded. 

Akane: Oh.

Lisann: Akane says there's an extra bed upstairs in the attic.

Ranma: Really? I never knew that. Ya want me to go get it?

Akane: Y-you would go get it for me?

Ranma: Yeah, why not? I wanna be helpful. Lisann is gonna be staying 
here. We might as well get used to it.

Akane: T-thanks.(Thinking)Hm, Ranma is never this nice to me....

(Ranma leaves the room. Akane and Lisann are alone again.)

Lisann: Ranma is nice.

Akane: Um, I guess you could say that.....from time to time that is.

Lisann: From time to time?

Akane: Well, sometimes he could be a jerk.

Lisann: (Confused)He don't seem like a jerk.

Akane: (Smiles weakly)Not at the moment he isn't.(Slight blush)He's 
actually being quite nice.

Lisann: I think that also.

Akane: (Changing subject)So, what do you like to do? We can play some 
games together.(Thinking)Playing games with her'll help make Lisann feel 
more welcome. (Begins to talk)What kind of games do you like?

Lisann: I like jig-saw puzzles.

Akane: (Smiles)Well, lucky for you, I have one right in my closet. We 
can do a jig-saw puzzle together. 

Lisann: (Smiles)All right.

Akane: (Thinking)Wow, it sure doesn't take much to make Lisann happy.

(Akane walks over to her closets and rummages through it. She finds an 
old jig-saw puzzle after a minute or so. She opens up the box and 
scatters all of the pieces on the floor. Lisann gets off the bed and 
sits down next to Akane on the floor.)

Lisann: Wow, you're good at jig-saw puzzles. You already put five pieces 
together. I only put together three.

Akane: I used to do jig-saws when I was younger, when I was about your 
age.

(There is a knock on the door)

Akane: C'min.

(Happousei enters the room. Akane was a bit surprised because she was 
expecting Ranma with the bed.)

Akane: ........................

Happousei: I was just wondering how you two were doing? Ah, I see you're 
trying to solve a jig-saw puzzle.

Lisann: Akane's good at this.

Happousei: Um, Lisann?

Lisann: What is it, grandpa?

Akane: (To herself)I don't think I'm ever going to get used to hearing 
that...

Happousei: (Ignoring Akane)I noticed you like the fish out in the 
backyard.

Lisann: Uh huh. There used to be a fish tank in the orphanage before I 
ran away.

Happousei: ................Um, well, anyway, I was wondering if you 
would like to perhaps goto the carnival tomorrow? We can try and win you 
some fish.

Lisann: Really? I'd really really like that. They looked really fun on 
television.

Happousei: Y-you've never been to a carnival before?

Lisann: (Shakes head)No. But I have been near a carnival before. 

Akane: Not a single one?

Lisann: No.

(There's another knock on the door.)

Akane: It's open.

(Ranma enters the room. He is carrying a mattress by himself. He enters 
the room and leans the mattress against one of the bedroom walls.)

Ranma: Man, for something as soft as this mattress here, it sure is 
heavy.

Akane: You need any help?

Ranma: Nah. I can handle it.

Lisann: You're nice for bring the bed down from the attic.

Ranma: (Smiles)Why thank you, Lisann. That's a very nice thing to say.

Lisann: Akane thinks you're being nice, too.

Akane: (Blushing)Lisann.....

Ranma: (Eyebrow perking)She does?(Looks at Akane oddly)

(Akane seems to be paying more attention toward solving that jig-saw 
puzzle in front of her.)

Akane: C-come on, Lisann. L-lets try and see how fast we can finish this 
puzzle.

Ranma: Um, I'll be right back. I still hafta grab the bedframe.(Gives 
Akane another odd look)You said that?

Akane:  N-no. I didn't.

Lisann: But I heard you say that you thought Ranma was-

Akane: (Turning toward Happousei)Hey, get outta my underwear draw!

Happousei: (Shocked)M-me? But I wasn't looking through there!

(Happousei had just been standing there watching Lisann and Ranma and 
Akane interacting. It was rather strange that he wasn't looking through 
Akane's underwear drawer. He didn't realize this until after Akane 
mentioned something about it.)

Ranma: (Turns toward Happousei)Can't cut yer habits, can ya?

Happousei: B-but I wasn't-
