He stepped up to the door that had a plate with 101B sketched into it and inserted the key into the door knob and turned the knob. He stepped into the room and shut the door. He looked around the room. It was Christmas day, but noone could tell that by looking in his apartment. The only thing decorating the room was a piece of wilted mistletoe gracing the top of the door. This he never looked at. He looked around their, his apartment and tears filled his eyes. Chrismtas had always been her favorite holiday, after Valentines Day that was. He sat down on the couch and then stood up. He didn’t want to think about it, but somehow he knew he couldnt stop the thoughts. He picked up a remote and turned on the stereo in hopes to drown his thoughts with music. The first part of the verse showed him he had a mistake: i was making my list i was checkin it twice in the middle of this i got tears in my eyes for in my foolish heart there was one simple truth the only gift i wanted was you. Last year had been their firt christmas togethr as a family. Their First Christmas together at all. He had finnaly succeded in winning her heart. He had been hanging the mistle toe above the tree when he got the call. Usagi had went to get some cookies for santa. She knew he wasnt real, but she said it hadnt felt right not leaving cookies and milk out. She had asked him to come, but he had declined. He had chuckled to himself as he had hung up the mistletoe. She would fall right into his trap. He hit the nail in the last time and heard the phone ring. He jumped off the chair and walked over to the phone and picked it up. “Hello, Kou Residence” “Mr. Kou? Your wife has been in a accident, we couldnt save her.” “what what happened? your lieng!” he had shouted into the phone. “I’m sorry, she was walking across the street, it was a hit and run, we think the driver must have been drunk.” The phone dropped from his numb fingers. ONe thought only raced through his mind “ it cant be true” but it had been true and everything changed. Seiya no longer celebrated christmas, he stayed away from their friends, not wanting to remember what it had been like. Seiya curled up inot a ball on the couch and sobbed like he hadnt cried for the last past year not since the accident. “Usagi, i wish you were here, i wish it had never happened” he whispered as he cried himself to sleep. Seiya felt someone gently brush away the bangs in his eyes and he opened his eyes. His head layed on someones lap. The scent of violet filled his scenses. He looked up to see a pair of sparkling blue eyes and long flowing blonde hair let down. This was exactly ohw Usagi had looked before she had went out. He closed his eyes against the pain and she kisses his temple. HIs eyes shot open. “usagi?” he whispered not daring to hope. He had seen her everywhere after the accident. People had begun to think he was going crazy, but his brothers quickly dislodged that idea in everyones mind. Usagi nodded. “yes its me” she said, a voice he had almost forgotten. “But.. why?” “A wish you made” she said and smiled. “no this cant be, you died!” He shouted and sat up and moved away. Usagi’s eye’s filled with hurt. “Miracles do come true on christmas seiya.” she said as if it were a every day occurance. “do the other know? I should call them” he said reaching for the phone. Usagi shook her head. “This is not their wish, but yours” she said and smiled. “I..I bought some presents for you” he said nodding towards the corner were the presents layed for christmas. This was the one thing he had allowed himself to do, for her at least, in her memory. Usagi looked over at the presents and frowned. “I have nothing for you” she said looking back at him. “Your the best gift i could ever have” he said and smiled. “But where is the chrismtas tree?” she asked. Seiya’s smile faded. “oh well, we dont need a tree for christmas” she said, standing up and were walking over to him. “not as long as we have each other” She pulled him over to the corner and she picked up the presents and brought them over to the coffe table and sat down on her knees in front of it, the couch behind her. Seiya sat down on the couch beside her. She unwrapped one of them to show a stuffed bunny. She hugged it to her chest. “its so kawaii!” she exclaimed and looked up at Seiya. “Go ahead, open the rest” he said. she opened the next one to see a necklace with a heart locket with a rabbit ingraved on it. “look inside” Seiya said. She opened it to see a picture of her and Seiya. Usagi’s eyes filled with tears and she layed it in her lap. “This is the best christmas present i’ve ever had” she said and moved up to sit beside him. “And your the best one i’ve ever had” he replied. Usagi layed her head on his shoulder and sighed. She looked up at the clock that read 11:30. She closed her eyes wishing it would last forever. The second wish would come in act at 12:01, only he would remember this day. It would be for the best. Seiya looked down at Usagi who now was sleeping and layed his head on hers. “I love you” he whispered and also closed his eyes, falling asleep. “Wake up sleepy head!” he heard a cheerful voice call. Seiya opened his eyes to see his wife, Usagi and smiled. “Did you do something to your hair?” he asked sitting up and rubbing at his eyes. She spun around, her now down hair flieng behind her. “yah, do you like it?” She asked. “love i..” Suddenly Seiya stopped and looked around. The room was decorated. There was a tree with presents under it and santas and reindeers figurines were on every available space. Had it all been a dream? or rather a nightmare? “Whats the matter?” Usagi asked concerned. “nothing, nothing at all now” he said smiling at her. Usagi smiled back and then frowned. “They’re arent any cookies for santa, its not christmas without cookies, maybe i should go get some, want to come?” she asked. “NO’ Seiya shouted. Usagi’s eyes widened. “We’ll make our own cookies” he said and Usagi nodded. “Ill go find the cookbook!” she said and ran into the kitchen. Seiya stood up and looked around and saw a piece of paper almost out of view and picked it up. Seiya, Always Believe in Christmas miracles. Your second wish has been granted. A wish from the heart. None of this has ever happened. The accident never happened. Make the best out of your life and have a merry christmas! Love, Odango Atama Seiya eyes widened. It hadnt been a dream it had been real. In front of his eyes the letter began to fade and then dissapeared. Usagi stuck her head back in the room. “Are you coming Seiya?” she asked. “Yah be there in a minute.” he said and looked up and whispered. “Thankyou” and walked into the kitchen hearing the soft playing of the radio behind him. Looking back on child hood days cant believe my foolish ways thought that christmas only came from a star had to know what was there for me underneath the christmas tree didnt know there could be so much more but in all of the rush i was missing so much girl you made me finnaly see I never knew the meaning of Christmas ‘til you came into my life i was lost in the dark till you opened my heart like an angel shining bright A wish on a star and girl here you are and suddenly i realized that I never knew the meaning of christmas until i looked into your eyes.
